Finding the right time to move resin

For this piece I delayed moving the resin for 1 hour after pouring, the reason being, I wanted as little movement as possible between colours, leaving the vibrancy of the colours to show up.

I was challenged to create a piece using red, red is not a colour I use normally and decided to take up the challenge. After playing with different colour combinations, I went with red, gold and black and as usual, I added gems for texture and depth. This artwork has been created on a 1 metre diameter cradle board and used 1.6 litres of resin.

For this piece I delayed moving the resin for 1 hour after pouring, the reason being, I wanted as little movement as possible between colours, leaving the vibrancy of the colours to show up.

Materials used:

  • Round Cradle Board – 1 metre diameter
  • Resin – I use U Resin Standard UV
  • Colour Obsession Pigments – Gold
  • Colour Obsession Paste – Fire Engine Red
  • Colour Obsession Paste – Black Truffle
  • Decoration Fillers (or any other stones you have to hand)
  • Heat Gun or Blow Torch
  • D-Rings and Wire for hanging

I hope you enjoy this video and it gives you ideas on how to use your fingers to create movement.
