I have been thinking about trying this out for quite some time, upcycling an IKEA lamp and giving it a new crushed glass resin shade.

First, I removed the shade and measured it. That way, I could accurately work out how big to make the resin shade and how much resin I would need to create it. The outer diameter is 390mm, and the hole is 40mm.

To create the hole, I used a jar of the Le Rez Pigments, as this was just the right size. With hindsight, I should have covered the jar in plastic, this is because the resin stuck to it. Whoops!

I left the resin to cure for around 3.5 to 4 hours before moving it to the upturned lamp for shaping. The resin was no longer sticky, although, still very pliable. It was then left to cure overnight.

The next day, to remove the jar, I had to heat the resin to make it soft and then using a knife, cut a hole in the centre of the resin. It was then left to cool before assembling the lamp.
